Our History
J & J Sheet Metal Works has been known throughout central and southern New York for over 75 years as the place to find high-quality sheet metal products. The business was founded in 1941 by James Azersky. His first three employees were his sons, Irving, Julius, and Simpson. After returning, in 1946, from serving their country the three brothers took over their dad’s business. They combined their military experience and former employment in the HVAC industry to build a family-owned business that has fabricated & installed millions of pounds of ductwork over the years.
In the early 70’s, the business was taken to another level under the leadership of third generation members, Michael and Ralph Azersky. The younger generation brought the company a high-tech edge using computer guided equipment and technology.
A family-owned company until 2008 when J & J was acquired by Moro Corporation and become part of a large group of specialty contractors performing public works contracts in the northeast. Third generation owner Michael Azersky remained as president of the respected firm.
As of July 11th, 2022, former third-generation owner, Mike Azersky and the Miller family purchased J&J from Moro Corporation making it once again a locally owned family business. The new company is re-branded as J&J Sheet Metal, LLC.
The Millers also own and operate Sure Temp, Inc.
Sure Temp is a locally owned successful HVAC contractor in the Greater Binghamton region. The addition of a full-service fabrication facility has added a new dimension to their offerings and added sales for J&J. The two separate companies complement each other’s many talents.
The new J&J continues to invest in new machinery and an updated delivery fleet as we continue to expand to meet our growing customer base.
Over the past year, J&J has invested in a new dual table Lock Former programmable plasma table, a 65-ton Sunrise Iron Worker, a Vicon Whisper Lock Pittsburgh sealer, a Vicon Pittsburgh roll former, and we have updated our fleet of trucks. Our new owners, with Mike Azersky as managing partner, has opened a relationship that combines years of talent and experience that will serve our employees, our community, and our clients, both old and new, for many years to come.
Looking toward the future, J & J will be extending its comprehensive services to an even wider arena. We are always looking to improve the scope and quality of our products to meet our consistently growing customer demand.
